 Capacitors

Capacitors are passive electrical components with two terminals that store temporarily electrical energy in the form of an electric field by distributing charged particles on two conductive plates that have a dielectric material between them to create a potential difference. The terminals are connected to those two conductive plates. They store an electric charge on the conductive plates. Then the charged plates separated by the dielectric material create an electric field. The Capacitor unlikely to a battery can charge and discharge that energy very quickly.

Capacitors are classified depending on physical materials that have been built. For example, those with metal-dielectric-electrolyte materials are called electrolytic capacitors; metal-ceramic-metal are called ceramic capacitors, etc. So, depending on the material or structure, capacitors are classified as Aluminum Electrolytic, Ceramic, Tantalum, Mica, Multilayer and many more. There are non-polarized that may be connected either to positive or negative voltage and polarized that have to be connected to a positive voltage, with the positive terminal being marked on the packaging.

In CPH Electronics, we stock many different types of capacitors including Ceramic, Tantalum, MLCC, Aluminum, Metal and more. You can find below our wide variety of capacitors.
